Feudal Japan Battra Design

Here’s my design for Feudal Japan Battra! The 2nd to last monster for my Feudal Japan Godzilla series. Had so much fun sculpting and redesigning Battra since he’s in my top 10 favorite Godzilla Kaiju. I knew adding Battra to the Fedual Japan War series would be important since I was able to work and write him in within the story. He’ll play a very important role in the Feudal Japan war especially when Megaguirus is awakened. I also think he perfectly fits in the whole Feudal Japan Era with the fantasy and mythical elements.

As always I stayed true and loyal to the original design as much as possible but just enhancing the design for Battra being able to fight. The one insect I did incorporate to the design was the Japanese Giant Hornet just to add the element of fierceness for Battra. I did incorporate traditional Japanese statue designs into Battra for him to fit the whole Feudal Japan look and make him look more of an ancient spirit monster especially around the face. I wanted Battra’s face design to have an Emperor look and make it look like he’s wearing a crown just like Mothra.

For the wings I wanted the shape to look the same as the original but kind a resemble Japanese kites as well. The wings pattern was inspired by some traditional Japanese clothing patterns and wanted more red on Battra’s wings to make him pop out more.
