Feudal Japan Kamacuras Design

Here’s my redesign for Kamacuras and another addition for the Feudal Japan Series. Not the most exciting and an underwhelming kaiju, but Kamacuras is still part of the Godzilla franchise.
I personally would like to see Kamacuras to make a comeback in the franchise. Because he’s a mantis there’s so much potential you can do with that since they are one of the most fearsome bugs in nature. Final Wars was closest thing we had to a cool Kamacuras especially with his cloak invisibility or camouflage. In the addition, I’d like have him be more of fast flying monster as well.
Again lots of potential to make an awesome mantis kaiju.

Now for his redesign, as always sticking with the original, I kept the design as simple and recognizable as Kamacuras as I can. I didn’t want the design to be to realistic as an actual mantis but tried to push the design as much as I can. It was also important to not make the design look like an alien bug which a typical route that most creature designers would do for any bug like monster so I avoided that.

In addition I wanted to make the design but ancient and added just a bit of that Japanese design language. I want Kamacuras to be more of silent and fast moving monster which is why the design the had to look sleek and deadly.
For the color I combined greens, browns and oranges hopefully I made the color much more vibrant and didn’t want a bland color for Kamacuras especially around his wings.
