Japanese MonsterVerse Godzilla Design- ゴジラ

Instead of doing a more grounded, realistic, reptilian dinosaur Godzilla, I was going for a more traditional Japanese looking Godzilla going back to Toho’s roots.

The overall look is a blend of Heisei and mostly Godzilla 2002 with a bit of some Stan Winston’s Godzilla. I made sure that he looks more sharp and fierce. Legendary’s design does have good detail it’s still very flat. Then I had to give the classic Toho posture to show power and true dominance. The Toho posture gives the design much more power and classic looking.

Then for the face, it’s a mix of Heisei, 2002, and Final Wars Goji. My favorite suit is 2004 so I had give him those Final Wars eyebrows haha. And there’s definitely some elements of Legendary’s Godzilla and Minus One into the face.

Then I had to beef up his dorsal fins and make them much larger and more aggressive looking. Same with the teeth, I had to beef those up and make them more noticeable. Legendary’s design barely has teeth and you can’t even see them. Godzilla needs large sharp teeth to make him fierce and intimidating. Then finally made his dorsal fins white to give that classic look with his ears.
